How do you size a leotard?

How do I take measurements?
- Girth. To measure girth, place the end of a tape measure on the center of child’s right shoulder.
- Chest. With child’s arms down, slip tape under arms and across chest and shoulder blades, holding tape firm and level.
- Waist. Measure around the natural waistline.
- Hips.

Do leotards run small?
If you want them to fit like street clothes or with a little breathing room, then yes, they run small. If you buy them to fit like they were designed to (like a second skin), then no, they don’t run small.
How are ballet leotards measured?
Waist – Measure around where your waist naturally indents. Keep your finger between the tape and your belly. Hips – Measure around the fullest part of the hips and buttocks while standing with your heels together. Inseam – Measure from the crotch to the bottom.

How are dance shoes measured?
You will need a piece of A4 paper, a pencil, and a ruler and/or measuring tape.
- Place your foot flat in the middle of the A4 paper.
- Press the pencil firmly at 90 degrees against back of your heel and draw a horizontal line on the paper.
- Then do exactly the same at the front of your big toe.
