Should you size up or down for cap and gown?
Gowns are cut so they fall 8 to 10 inches from the floor. If a longer gown or sleeve length is desired, order one size larger than what would be normal for your height. Be sure to measure the student’s height with the shoes they will wear for the ceremony.
What size should my graduation cap be?
To arrive at you correct head size, measure the circumference of your head in centimetres. This should be measured at the point which the hat sits on your head. Between 1-2 cm above your ears. e.g. if your head circumference is equal to 56cms then the Graduation Hat size is 56.

Should I size up for graduation gown?

As a general rule of thumb, grad gowns should fit somewhat loosely so they hang over your body without restricting movement. Length-wise, your grad gown should fall eight to 10 inches from the ground so they cover everything but your feet and ankles.
What if my graduation gown is too big?
Use straight pins to temporarily adjust the gown for a better fit and use marking chalk or markers to show on the fabric where you will be hemming or adjusting the fit. For example, if the gown is too long, pin up the hem accordingly.

Do I have to zip up my graduation gown?
Zip your graduation gown all the way up before the ceremony starts! DON’T: Keep your gown unzipped. You may want it unzipped for pictures before and after graduation (we love your outfit too!) for photos or when you are walking around, but during the ceremony this is not the proper look!
Is it possible to alter a graduation gown?
Yep, you’re going to get your iron on and get this done. Quick! In case you’re worried that this is a daunting task, let me assure you that it’s much easier than I thought it would be! Don’t pay someone else to alter your child’s graduation gown because you can totally do this yourself!
