Note: For hats, I recommend glitter iron-on or flocked heat transfer vinyl. I didn’t go over any seams with this project (just because the size of the owl fit within the seams), but if you did go over seams, glitter or flock heat transfer would hide the seam better than smooth iron-on HTV.

What is the best HTV for hats?
Regular HTV is thinner in sheets, so when pressed may give you wrinkles on your hats. It’s better to use flocked or glitter HTV for hats.
Can you Cricut a hat?
Design areas and placement vary with every hat, so you’ll have to decide what works best for the hat you choose to use with Cricut Hat Press. For Cricut Hat Blanks, like the Ball cap and Trucker Hat, or similarly sized and shaped hats, we recommend the maximum design size of 4.25 in x 2.25 in.
Can you press a hat with a regular heat press?
The important thing is to keep your hand protected. Heat presses get over 300 degrees F, but so long as you protect your hand, you can hold just about anything to the plate of your heat press, apply pressure, and transfer the design.
What temperature do you heat press a hat?
If you are using glitter HTV the standard temperature is 320 degrees for 20 seconds – but check the specs for the brand you are using. If you are using the hat press for sublimation, you want to heat it up to 400 degrees for 1 minute to apply to polyester hats like the popular two tone trucker hats.

Flocked HTV is a special type of heat transfer vinyl that has a lovely raised soft and fuzzy texture. But let’s back up a section and talk about heat transfer vinyl. HTV or Heat Transfer Vinyl is a type of vinyl that can be ironed onto any t-shirt, sweatshirt, blanket or other cotton or polyester-based fabric.
Does Cricut have a hat template?
In the search bar, search for the “Hat Press Design Setup” project. Click customize to add this template to your canvas. This design template is sized to fit Cricut hat blanks or similarly styled adult hats.
How much does it cost to have a hat made?
A structured, wool baseball cap can cost $12.69 for 288 or more and $15.92 for 48 or more. A screen-printed cotton baseball cap with one-color printing[2] can cost $2.07 for 288 or more or $4.18 for 48 or more.
How long do you press a hat?
Since you can’t close your heat press onto your hat, you’re going to push your design as hard as you can against the hot plate of your press. Hold the hat on the top plate for 5-7 seconds. My design is a little bigger, so I had to do 5-7 seconds in each area to make sure everything stuck.
Can you heat press a polyester hat?
You can heat press on polyester using a temperature below 300℉. High temperatures will damage this synthetic fabric, causing glossing or scorching. With the right temperature setting, transfers that work at low temperatures, and a carefully timed pressing, you can heat press on any polyester fabric.
How long do heat press hats last?
They do last forever—well, almost. A good heat press, especially a flat press, should last 10, 15, even 20 years with only minimal problems.
Why is my iron on vinyl wrinkling?
Solution: One of the reasons your shirt has wrinkles in it is if you pressed it for too long. Double check your time settings for your vinyl. If you press your HTV for too long, the vinyl will shrink thus causing stress lines in the HTV.
Can I use HTV on acrylic hats?

Can I use Cricut heat press on acrylic?
Result: I was so afraid of the plastic melting so I was super careful, but the HTV did stick to the acrylic! It was pretty heavy duty acrylic. If you’re not sure how durable your acrylic is, do a little test.
