What does width of a shirt mean?
As you can see in the below diagram, the “Body Length” measurement is the distance in inches from the shoulder seam all the way down to the bottom of the garment, the length of the body. The “Body Width” measurement is the distance in inches from the bottom of each sleeve hole, the chest width.

What is shirt chest width?
The Chest Width of the shirt is measured from the bottom of one armpit to another (roughly nipple height). Modifying the Chest Width by 1” adjusts the shirt circumference around your body by 2”.
How do you measure width?
Place the end of the measuring tool at the top of the object. Extend the measuring tool along the entire vertical edge of the space until you reach the bottom of the object. Note the number on the measuring tool where the width edge ends and write this number down on your paper. This is the width measurement.
How do I measure chest width?
Take a soft tape measure and wrap it under your armpits at the widest part of your chest. The tape measure should be snug around your chest and shoulder blades, but not so tight that it compresses your chest. The number in inches is your chest size.

What does chest width mean?
Measuring Chest width:
To measure your chest size, run a fabric tape measure under your arms and fit it around the fullest part of your chest. It’s important to have the tape measure parallel to the ground, not dipping, sagging or twisted which distorts the measurement and impacts the fit of the tshirt.

Is a 44 inch chest big?
