What fabric does not dye well?
Other synthetic fibers like polyester, spandex, olefin, acetate, and acrylics will not dye evenly unless you use a dye specially formulated for synthetic fibers. Blended fabrics like a polyester/cotton will result in a muted, heather-like dyed finish unless you use a dye formulated for synthetics.
Why is polyester the most difficult to dye?
Polyester fiber retains little moisture and does not transport aqueous fluids. The hydrophobic nature of polyester fiber makes them difficult to dye (they require a carrier) and to finish in aqueous media.

Why does cotton dye better than polyester?
Polyester does not react with fiber reactive dyes at all, so they just wash out of it. As a result, dyeing a cotton/polyester blend results in much paler, less satisfactory colors than dyeing 100% cotton.

Can I soak fabric in Rit dye overnight?
Rit Dye is the best for this! My only tip is to leave them in the washer, soaking in the dye bath for several hours or even overnight to get the darkest black possible.
