These are what I used, the tie rod ends are used on circle track cars and they are 7 deg. tapers with 3/4″ thread. The alum tie rods come in about any length that you want.

What is the rod’s end thread pitch?
The Rod Ends we offer use five possible thread pitches 1.0, 1.25, 1.5, 1.75, 2.0 and are detailed when selecting your chosen Rod End.
Are all tie rod ends the same threading?
All thread rod possesses continuous right-hand thread from one end of the rod to the other. Here are the ways that all thread could and couldn’t be used: No: The traditional clevises rod clevis setup does not allow for all thread.
What is the taper on a ball joint?
After removing the nut, you’re going to need to break the taper. These balljoints have a taper that fits into a matching taper on the suspension part, and is held in place with a nut. The nut is only there to put tension on the taper – the taper is the part of the joint that carries all the load.
Should tie rods be the same length?
It is vital to ensure that both tie rods are the same length after making a toe adjustment. This is vital to the appropriate functioning of the steering so that it doesn’t steer when the suspension goes up and down. Unequal tie rod length can also lead to suspension damage, resulting in a bent steering knuckle or arm.
How are threaded rods measured?
How is threaded rod measured? Threaded rod is measured Diameter-Threading x Length. For example, you may find a threaded rod measuring 1/4″-20 x 6ft. The 1/4″ is the rod’s diameter, the 20 means there are 20 threads per inch of rod, and the 6ft is how long the rod is.
How do you measure the diameter of a threaded rod?
To measure the diameter of screws and bolts, you measure the distance from the outer thread on one side to the outer thread on the other side. This is called the major diameter and will usually be the proper size of the bolt.
Are inner and outer tie rods the same part?
An outer tie rod end is connected to each front wheel spindle, and an inner tie rod end is connected to the steering rack or steering gear box assembly. As your steering wheel is turned, a shaft connects the steering wheel to a steering gear assembly – either a steering gear box or rack and pinion gear mechanism.
Are inner and outer tie rods the same?
As the name states one is an Inner Tie Rod and is located on the inside of the Steering System. The Outer Tie Rod is located at the out side of the Steering System. The Outer Tie Rod is connected right at the Wheel and is the last link in the Steering System.
Is a tie rod the same as a drag link?
Drag Links (DLs) connect the steering gear and the pitman arm at one vehicle wheel. Tie Rods (TRs) connect the steering knuckles at the left and at the right wheel to transfer the steering forces.
Why are ball joints tapered?
The bearing stud is tapered and threaded, and fits into a tapered hole in the steering knuckle. A protective encasing prevents dirt from getting into the joint assembly. Usually, this is a rubber-like boot that allows movement and expansion of lubricant.
Can you turn tie rod?
Put the tie rod end in the steering arm and snug the castle nut before adjusting. Use vise-grips to grab onto the tie rod and rotate it to adjust the length. Be careful to turn both tie rods the same amount. When turning the tie rods, the rubber boot will “wind up” on the tie rod.
Are left and right tie rods the same length?
The tie rods are the same length on a manual steering car. A factory power steering car has a long tie rod on the driver side because of the way the power steering valve is packaged on the center link.
How do you find the thread pitch?
To find the thread pitch of a bolt that is 2 inches long with 48 threads: Divide 2 inches by 48 threads. The result is a 0.04167 inch thread pitch.
What is thread pitch?
The thread pitch is the distance between corresponding points on adjacent threads. Measurements must be taken parallel to the thread axis. • The major diameter or outside diameter is the diameter over the crests of the thread, measured at right angles to the thread axis. •
Can you cut threaded rod?
Secure the rod in the vice with two nuts either side using a thin kerf, the rod can then be cut and held in place. Once it is cut, you can unscrew the nuts, which will tidy up the ends and keep the threading in good shape. A simple illustration of this can be found here.
What is the diameter of 3/8 threaded rod?

How much weight will a 3/8 threaded rod hold?
1,900 lbs.
The Superstrut 3/8 in. Galvanized Threaded Electrical Support Rod is used to suspend metal framing channel from ceilings. The construction of this support rod holds up to 1,900 lbs. This rod is 16-Gauge and 10 ft.
What is the strongest threaded rod?
These codes are defined by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and recognised worldwide. White indicates the strongest rods. Red is the second strongest, made of 316L stainless steel, also called A4. Green is the third strongest, made of 304 stainless steel, or A2.
Do you need to grease new tie rod ends?
Some outer tie rods come with a grease fitting, which often come pre-greased and do not require any additional grease added when installed. However, make sure the grease fitting bolt is tightened during installation.
Should you replace inner tie rods when replacing outer tie rods?
If you are changing an inner tie-rod, and the outer tie-rod is an original part, it is recommended to change both. This is simply due to the fact to change an inner tie-rod, the outer tie-rod must be removed to do so.
