Why did boots lie in SEE?
Having known nothing but rejection all his life, he has his guard up high. It is him against the world. So he lies to Baba Voss and the twins, telling them Maghra had been killed before luring them all into an underground prison where they are recaptured by an underground tribe who have chosen to live below ground.

Thus, it’s quite shocking to see Tamacti Jun alive after apparently being caught by Trivantes’ soldiers. However, while Baba wants to kill him, Tamacti Jun has gifts to offer. He admits Maghra’s alive, and he can take Baba to the woman he loves.
How did Jerlamarel lose sight?
To save Kofun, Baba struck Jerlamarel, and the accomplished warrior proved that he was a better fighter unsighted than Jerlamarel ever was, even with his eyesight advantage. In taking him down, Baba blinded Jerlamarel, leaving him just like everyone else.
