With a long tag end, form a loop and twist it at least 20 complete turns. With finger and thumb (brown sticks here) compress the twists to make the tag end wind tightly around the twists. Hold the knot and secure it with a Half Hitch and multi-loop hitch (tuck tag end between the lines). Tighten and trim.

How long should Bimini twists be?
HOW LONG SHOULD YOUR BIMINI TWIST BE? Most guys say you do around 20–30 twists with nylon mono line, starting with about 30cm of doubled line and doing your twists and pulling it in until you have a neat series of twists. For spectra-type braided line, they say you can start with as many as 60 twists.
Is a Bimini twist necessary?
A Bimini twist loop is stronger than the line itself. It is one of the rare knots that does not weaken the line in which it is tied. It is a simple method of doubling your fishing line in order to prevent chafing or to create the necessary loop in order to attach a wind-on leader without using strength in the mainline.
How strong is the Bimini twist?
100% knot
One of the biggest advantages of using the Bimini twist is that it is rated as a 100% knot, which means that the knot retains 100% of its original line strength when tied properly.
What is the purpose of a Bimini twist?
Uses: The Bimini Twist is used to create a strong loop for use as a double-line leader on the end of a fishing line that can then be used for a loop-to-loop connection.
What is the strongest fishing knot?
The Palomar Knot
The Palomar Knot is the strongest fishing knot in many situations. This knot only has 3 steps making it extremely powerful and very basic. Since there are not many twist and kinks in this knot it makes it extremely tough to break. It can be used on Braided line and Mono-filament.
Can I drive my boat with the Bimini up?
“Don’t travel with the Bimini up because it stresses the aluminum fittings. Over time they may develop cracks and break. Lay the tops down and you greatly reduce the risk of increase wear and damage.”
What is a GT knot?
The GT knot is basically a uni knot on the braid side and a figure eight knot on the mono side. Both of those knots are weaker than the FG knot, so I had a hunch the GT knot wouldn’t be as strong as the FG knot.
What is the weakest knot?
The clove hitch is the weakest of the common climbing knots, at 60 to 65 percent.
Why do Palomar knots fail?
Without proper lubrication, the tightening of a fluorocarbon knot subjects the line to friction which produces heat and weakens the line.
Is a Palomar knot stronger than a uni knot?
Since which knots you choose to tie is one of the few things under your control when fighting a fish, I’d definitely recommend going with the uni knot over the palomar knot. It’s 8% stronger, so just by choosing the uni knot you can increase the pulling strength of your setup by 8%.
What is the best knot to tie on a swivel?
Two Turn Clinch Knot
The Trilene Knot, also known as the Two Turn Clinch Knot is great for tying line to snaps, swivels, hooks and lures.
Can I tie a swivel to braid?
Conlusion – Braid to Swivel/Hook
14 is what I now use when tying this knot. An interesting finding from the series of fishing knot contests we preformed has been that using a direct line-to-line knot is just as strong (and sometimes stronger) than using a swivel to connect the two lines.
