What kind of paint can I use on an umbrella?
Acrylic paints
Acrylic paints are water-based paints, but once the paint dries, it’s quite water resistant. Not entirely waterproof, but very durable. And they’re inexpensive and widely available. Acrylic paints are the perfect choice for making a DIY painted umbrella.
How do you decorate a second line umbrella?
Steps:
- Lay out your materials.
- Measure out six 14 inch strips for the spines. (
- Using tack glue, secure the beads to the spine of the open umbrella.
- Decorate the umbrella with paint or decals however you like.
- Let everything dry.

- Then enjoy!

Use sequins or glitter to add sparkles to the umbrella.
If you’re using fine glitter, apply the waterproof wet glue to the umbrella in a design and then sprinkle the glitter on top of the glue. You may need to hold larger sequins in place for a minute or two to ensure they don’t move around while drying.

Yes, you can use spray paint on fabric. I didn’t want to buy cans to spray paint my umbrella so I used leftover paint that I already had but I do think using spray paint on the fabric umbrella would have been faster.

Can you put permanent vinyl on an umbrella?

Why does my heat transfer vinyl wrinkle?
Solution: Another reason your HTV may have wrinkles in it, is if it was pressed at too high of a temperature. Same with being pressed for too long, too high of a temperature can actually burn and cause the HTV to shrink as well.
