Returns and exchanges are free when you use a prepaid return shipping label (online purchases only), or when you return in store. You have up to 30 days from ship date to return items purchased at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic.
No receipt is required if the item is still in new condition. If you lost your receipt and want a refund, Old Navy can usually look up your order via your credit or debit card.
The Old Navy Return Policy states that you can return or exchange items that are still in their original condition within 30 days of purchase. The items must be in new, unwashed and unworn condition to be eligible for a refund.
Old Navy accepts items for return or exchange within 45 days of purchase. The return or exchange may be denied if the item has been washed or worn, and a packing slip or receipt is required.
Receipt. A receipt is also necessary for a return and especially when there is no tag. You will have to be prepared to show at least a receipt or at least a tag in order to get some money back for your purchase. The receipt will let the store know how much the item was originally sold for.
Any item that is final sale will be marked on the tag. These will be items that were marked down due to defect or damage.
Refunds for gifts are issued in store credit.
When you return a gift with a receipt, you’ll receive a gift card for the gift’s full amount. But if you return a gift without a receipt, in five to ten days, Old Navy will mail you a “merchandise certificate” equal to the item’s current price.
Can I return an item if I lost the receipt?
No store has to change or refund an item simply because the owner does not like the colour. But where an item fails, shops do not have the right to demand a receipt. A credit card slip or statement or even the say-so of a person who was present when the products were purchased, are legally enough.
To Return or Exchange Items in a Store
For Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta items, you can return merchandise purchased online to the appropriate store. For example, if you bought an item on Gap.com, you can return it to a Gap retail store, but not to an Old Navy store.
Yup! You read right. We’ll replace any pair or kids or toddler jeans that rip or split, as long as you bring them back to the store with the original receipt.
What do clothing stores do with returned clothes?
Different brands take different approaches to returned items. In a best case scenario, your returned clothes end up going into a clearance sale or sit in a warehouse until they are out of season. However, in most cases, these returns take a clear pathway to landfills.
What do you say when returning an item?
Smile and say, “Hi, I want to return this item which I bought last week.” Show the clerk the item and your receipt. Don’t delay returning the item. Some stores allow returns but only for a certain amount of time. For example, many stores only allow returns within 14 days of the purchase.

- Tie the ends of the string together and safety pin the hang tag to one of the durable seams or the care tag.
- Thread the string through an opening on the garment, like a button hole. Tie the ends of the string in a knot to secure the hang tag in place.
What Happens With Old Navy Super Cash When You Make a Return? Super Cash has no cash value, so when you make a return, you will get back only the money you spent, not any of the value of your Super Cash. In addition, you will not get back the Super Cash reward coupon.

Can a store tell if an item was purchased there?

With your credit card: Give the store associate the credit card you used to make your purchase. If your purchase was made in the past 30 days, they should be able to find it and issue your refund.
When did gap change their return policy?
