When you return an item without tags, chances are you will have to pay for the return shipping costs. Most retailers are not going to like the fact that the item is coming back without tags. Some will deny the return completely; others will tell you that the return shipping costs are going to be at your own expense.
You have up to 30 days from ship date to return or exchange items by mail that are purchased at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic and up to 60 days from ship date to return or exchange items by mail that are purchased at Athleta.

- Around A Strap. Using a short length of return tag, approximately 4″, loop the 360 ID Tag around a non-removable strap.
- Through a Sleeve. The return tag easily loops through sleeves for clothing like sweaters, coats, and jackets.
- Through Jeans or Trousers.
How do you reattach a price tag?
You have 2 options for attaching the hang tag to the garment:
- Tie the ends of the string together and safety pin the hang tag to one of the durable seams or the care tag.
- Thread the string through an opening on the garment, like a button hole. Tie the ends of the string in a knot to secure the hang tag in place.
No receipt is required if the item is still in new condition. If you lost your receipt and want a refund, Old Navy can usually look up your order via your credit or debit card.
Can I return an item if I lost the receipt?
No store has to change or refund an item simply because the owner does not like the colour. But where an item fails, shops do not have the right to demand a receipt. A credit card slip or statement or even the say-so of a person who was present when the products were purchased, are legally enough.

Most companies keep copies of receipts, but it is best to contact the store to see if a reprint is possible. If you have a lost receipt, your best plan of action probably is to contact the place that gave you the original copy and see whether the store can reprint the receipt for you.
Can you exchange clothes without a receipt?
What if I don’t have the receipt? If you can’t get hold of the receipt and you’re taking an item back simply because you don’t like it, the retailer is under no legal obligation to give you a refund – but the retailer may offer you an exchange or a credit note.
What is a tag gun?
The tag gun uses plastic fasteners, which go through a needle, in order to attach the labels on the clothing. The process is very quick and simple. There is no heating, melting or any other similar activities, which most people think take place when attaching tags on clothes.
To remove them at home, use a high-powered magnet, such as a hard drive magnet. Place the magnet on a flat surface and lay the tag on top of it with the ink dome or cartridge facing down. You should hear a click letting you know the tag has deactivated. Wiggle the pins in the tag up and down to release them.
How do you cover up an itchy tag?
The Hollywood Tape folks, also invented a product called “Hollywood Tag Tamers”, which are pieces of clear smooth fabric that you can place over your tags to prevent itching.
Do return labels expire?
How long is a return label usable? Printed return labels do expire, but expiration dates vary by retailer. Typically, emailed return labels are printable for up to two years. Once you print the label, you usually have two weeks to use it before it expires.
