How can I tell if my Asics are wide?

Shoe boxes and labels will only identify widths other than standard. Within the shoes, wide and narrow widths are identified on the label, underneath the tongue — ie. T005N(2E).

Do Asics come up narrow?

Should I size up or down in Asics?

As a rough guide, there should be between half and a full thumb’s width of space between your toes and the end of your running shoes. If you have less space than that, you should consider going up half a size to give your foot more room to move back and forth and expand on contact with the ground.

Are Asics half sizes wider?

Should your toes touch the end of your shoes?

Your toes should have ample room to spread wide. Your toes shouldn’t feel constricted or touch the end of the shoe. Your heel should feel comfortably cupped in the back of the shoe, which ensures that your foot won’t slip out from the back of the shoe.

How do Asics fit compared to Brooks?

Speaking of fit, the Asics shoes have snugger fit than Brooks. Especially, Brooks running shoes are wider in toe box. Therefore, Brooks recommends going up a half size compared to your normal shoe size.

For men, a 2E is considered a Wide shoe, while a 4E or larger will be considered Extra Wide. For women, a 2E or larger is considered an Extra Wide shoe.

What is considered a wide foot for a woman?

This means it’s wise to have just a little extra room (about a thumb’s width) between your longest toe and the front of the shoe. With this in mind, your running shoe should be around a half size larger than the shoe size you usually get.

Christine Luff from verywell.com recommends going up half a shoe size because one’s feet swell when they run and it is important to have plenty of room in the toebox. If one’s toes are crammed in the front of the running shoe, you could develop blisters or black toenails.

If your finger has too much room, the shoes are too large. Your toes need wiggle room so that you don’t get blisters, calluses or damaged toenails. You should be able to wiggle your toes comfortably in the toe box and if you aren’t sure how much room is enough, use the “rule of thumb” when purchasing new shoes.
