Who created snag tights?
Brie Read
Brie Read is the CEO and founder of Snag Group, and a finalist in this year’s Inflexion Entrepreneur of the Year Award category. She set up the Scottish hosiery startup in 2017 after a lightbulb moment on Edinburgh’s ‘posh’ George Street when she felt her tights slipping down.

What does denier mean in tights?
Denier is the amount of transparency a certain pair of tights will have, which is directly related to its thickness. Denier ranges from 5 to 100. Transparent sheer tights can be found at the lower end of the spectrum, 5 – 50, while anything over 50 are considered opaque tights.
Is snag sustainable?
Sustainability. Our production process is carbon neutral, and our dying systems use recycled water. We are single use plastic free through our entire production and dispatch process and use recycled materials whenever it’s possible.
How do you dispose of old tights?

Broken, holy, used tights can be recycled as textiles. All you have to do is drop them off at your local recycling centre or bag them up and put them in a clothes bank at your regular supermarket.

The higher the denier, the thicker the fabric. Deniers lower than 20 are referred to as sheer tights, which are made of fine threads and offer light leg coverage. While, opaque tights begin at 30 denier and mean you won’t be able to see as much skin through the fabric.

To help give your gently used pantyhose another life, see if your local thrift shops or secondhand stores will accept them (some have restrictions on certain textiles or clothing conditions). Many stores also have textile recycling programs for donations they aren’t able to resell.
