Good quality woven cotton will shrink an average of 1 to 3 percent, and should shrink evenly. It may not sound like enough to make a difference, but for a shirt that is about 30-inches long at a medium size, that translates into nearly a full inch off the length, and just under half an inch on a 15-inch collar.

How should oxford shirts fit?

The Oxford shirt should follow the lines of your body. It shouldn’t be too loose or too tight, and should essentially fit the shape of your body. The seam should meet the corner of your shoulder bone — if it falls below that point, it’s too big, and if it falls before that point, it’s too small.

Can you machine wash an Oxford?

Be sure not to use any detergents or cleaners that are chlorine based as these will cause discoloration to many shirt fabrics. Wash the shirts in the washing machine, and then let the spin cycle wring most of the water out of the garment.

If you are not interested in sizing up your shirts we do recommend getting a blended shirt. We carry dual-blend and tri-blend t-shirts. These t-shirts are the softest fabric and since it is blended, shrinking is minimal to none.
