Can you put Harris Tweed in the washing machine?
Our Harris Tweed® is made from Pure New Wool, so it is best to wash it as little as possible. We recommend you dry clean our accessory products to retain their look and feel.
What fabrics should not be dry cleaned?
Fabrics that don’t need dry cleaning
Most cotton clothing has been preshrunk, too, so drying in a machine is safe. Synthetic fabrics. These include polyester, nylon, spandex, acrylic and acetate. These won’t shrink, so it’s safe to wash in warm water.
Is tweed easy to clean?
The fabric itself, either wool or a wool blend, is highly washable and can be cared for according to the instructions for washing woolens. The construction of the garment needs to be considered when deciding whether or not a tweed piece can be washed.

Does tweed shrink?
While tweed is renowned for being tough, it isn’t indestructible. Because it’s made of wool, tweed is terrible for shrinking in the wash, so always have it dry cleaned. You should also be careful about how you store your tweed.
How do you clean a Harris Tweed couch?
