How do you care for a Harris tweed?
Hand wash in cool, clean water, 30 degrees max. We recommend using a wool liquid soap or even a good quality 2-in-1 shampoo/conditioner. Never use powder detergent. Gently massage a small amount of the soap through the garment, be cautious not to wring, rub or stretch whilst washing.
What happens when tweed gets wet?
Men’s tweed jackets often times cannot be washed however as they are constructed with interfacing, pad stitched lapels, and shoulder pads. When wet, these pieces can become distorted and result in the puckering of the outer fabric.
How long does tweed last?
A good tweed suit should last many years. Some men have them for 20 or 30 years and they still look new. Others get it from their fathers or grandfathers, and so they last generations. This is because high-quality tweed is a classic and timeless fabric.
