Felt is fantastically simple to care for! If you’ve got any stains, wiping with a wet cloth will remove nearly anything. If the wet cloth doesn’t do it, hand wash your felt in lukewarm water with a plain soap – no perfumes or dyes, then wring it out and leave it to dry.

How do you care for wool felt?
Rinse in cold water and dry in a dryer with a fabric softener strip until slightly damp. Large pieces can be washed in the washing machine in hot water on a gentle cycle and rinsed in cold. There will be more shrinkage this way and the felt will become lumpy. Ironing helps to smooth the lumps.
How do you rejuvenate felt?
Dampen a soft, clean cloth with cool water and dab at the stain until clean.
- For extra stubborn stains, you can use diluted white vinegar to clean the felt.
- Use one part vinegar and two parts water to get the proper dilution for this.
- Repeat the same process of dabbing at the stain with your vinegar/water solution.
Does felt shrink when washed?
Felt is sensitive to water temperature and agitation, and it can shrink if not treated properly. Add 2 capfuls or a squirt of Wool & Cashmere Shampoo to a washbasin or sink filled with cool water. Submerge the item and gently agitate the water with your hands to evenly distribute soap. Soak for up to 30 minutes.
Can felt be washed?
Although you can wash felt in a washing machine, you should only wash it on delicate or gentle cycles. Without proper care, felt can fade, shrink and lose its shape.

To secure the plastic wrap in place all you need to do is fold it over the edges of your felt fabric and then use a hot iron to seal in place. You can also glue or sew down any loose ends for added protection!
What are the disadvantages of felt?
