Who owns Hockerty?

Hockerty was created by three young entrepreneurs at their early 20s as they realised it was difficult to find affordable tailor-made clothing. Like most other startups, they started from their own bedroom with money borrowed from friends and family.

Is Hockerty half canvas?

All Hockerty suit jackets are half-canvassed, which allows for the jacket to drape naturally over the chest.

How long do fused suits last?

3-5 years
If the garment is made with a fused canvas, you can expect 3-5 years of life on the high end. This assumes you hang your suit up properly after each wear and let it air out overnight before placing it back in its garment bag.

Made-to-measure suits also tend to be outsourced to a different country for production, which may lead to lengthier lead times and less accuracy in the finished product. Although more expensive and time-consuming, made-to-measure suits tend to fit much better than ready-to-wear suits.

What bespoke suits?

With a bespoke suit, a pattern is designed and made from scratch based on the client’s measurements, often from 20+ measurements involving multiple fittings, and takes considerably longer to produce than a made-to-measure garment. This ensures a precise fit, particularly in the shoulders as well as the posture areas.

What is the difference between bespoke and made-to-measure?

Bespoke tailors draw a unique paper pattern by hand. Made to Measure tailors use an existing pattern and make some basic modifications to it.

What does a made-to-measure suit cost?

Lower costs than bespoke suits: Made-to-measure suits can cost as little as $400 or less at online tailors though, in many cases, you get what you pay for. At traditional brick-and-mortar retailers, suits generally range from approximately $700 – 2,000 depending on the brand, fabric and options.

How do you tell if a suit is fused or canvassed?

Pinch Test
Gently pull the layers apart. If you feel a third layer inside, then the coat is fully canvassed. If you don’t feel a third layer, or the fabric feels stiffer and thicker than that of the sleeve, the jacket is more than likely fused.

Are Armani suits fused or canvassed?

And beware, many designer suits like Armani and HUGO BOSS use fusing in some of their product lines – yet they still charge a premium price.

Are Hugo Boss suits canvassed or fused?

Like the other fused jackets I’ve written about, the Hugo Boss jacket is relatively limp compared to a fully-canvassed garment, in which the floating canvas creates a sort of skeleton. The fabric, from a reputable mill in Italy called Guabello, isn’t particularly remarkable and is quite thin.

How much is a Tom Ford made-to-measure suit?

Around 300 fabrics are available for tailored clothing and another 200 for shirtings. Seven weeks after a second fitting, final alterations are made by the in-store tailor. At all Tom Ford stores, including New York and Beverly Hills; suits start at $4,640, tuxedos at $5,540, shirts at $680, shoes at $3,400.
