If you catalysed your acrylic enamel you should wait a few hours , if not , a few days & it’ll still be soft. You may have to strip the area [if un catalyzed], if you sand through you’ll likely have trouble w/ lifting on raw edges. I think I’d use 400 – 600 grit & lots of water..
