At The North Face®, when we say a fabric is waterproof we mean it’s impervious to water. We test our waterproof fabrics in lab conditions to ensure the fabric can withstand a given amount of water. Once the fabric passes that test, it can be called 100% waterproof.

How do I know if my jacket is waterproof?
Water-resistant jackets and pants usually have a DWR (durable water repellent) finish on the exterior that repels moisture and keeps you dry in light rain or snow. If the jacket features a waterproof breathable membrane, laminate or other comparable waterproof technology, then it is usually considered waterproof.
Can North Face jackets get wet?
It is possible to clean your down jacket yourself, but you should err on the side of caution; when wet, the down filling gets clumpy and if not dried correctly it will not perform as effectively as it should.
Is a North Face puffer jacket waterproof?

This is then observed over 24 hours to ascertain how many millimetres of water the fabric can withstand before it soaks through.

How do I get my North Face jacket waterproof again?
