Returns and exchanges are free when you use a prepaid return shipping label (online purchases only), or when you return in store. You have up to 30 days from ship date to return items purchased at Gap, Old Navy, and Banana Republic. Items purchased at Athleta can be returned within 60 days of ship date.
No receipt is required if the item is still in new condition. If you lost your receipt and want a refund, Old Navy can usually look up your order via your credit or debit card.
Receipt. A receipt is also necessary for a return and especially when there is no tag. You will have to be prepared to show at least a receipt or at least a tag in order to get some money back for your purchase. The receipt will let the store know how much the item was originally sold for.
Refunds for gifts are issued in store credit.
When you return a gift with a receipt, you’ll receive a gift card for the gift’s full amount. But if you return a gift without a receipt, in five to ten days, Old Navy will mail you a “merchandise certificate” equal to the item’s current price.
Can I return an item if I lost the receipt?
No store has to change or refund an item simply because the owner does not like the colour. But where an item fails, shops do not have the right to demand a receipt. A credit card slip or statement or even the say-so of a person who was present when the products were purchased, are legally enough.

For Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta items, you can return merchandise purchased online to the appropriate store. For example, if you bought an item on Gap.com, you can return it to a Gap retail store, but not to an Old Navy store.

Do you have to give a reason for returning an item?
