How long does it take to rent a kilt?
How long can I hire a kilt for? We do a standard 4 day kilt hire. This is because we need to ensure we have enough time for the items to be cleaned and checked before being sent back out for hire again, which is especially important during our busy periods.
When should I order my wedding kilts?
We usually ask our brides and grooms to have their kilt fitting 6 months before their big day. This means any changes they want to make can be done with plenty of time before the wedding day.

Should a belt be worn with a kilt?

The kilt belt is worn around the top of the kilt, but not through the kilt loops. The kilt belt is normally worn in the absence of a waistcoat. The kilt belt will not fasten without a kilt buckle.
Should Father of the bride Wear same kilt as groom?
In general, the father of the bride and the groomsmen should match a little. They should all wear the same suit or tuxedo. It is typical of fathers to choose to dawn a different colored tie or shirt to match the mother of the bride’s dress or the wedding colors.
Do you wear a bow tie with a kilt?

In fact, not all kilts have them at all. For the most part, you are just fine with going without these accessories. A kilt without ties and bow ties can make you look especially dashing. You can try wearing a regular tie with your kilt, and tying the knot at the front instead of tying a bow tie.

Can you get a kilt taken in?
For bigger adjustments we can let a kilt out (or take it in) through the aprons and ultimately we can completely rip your kilt down to the cloth and re-make it to the new specifications. We also provide a dry clean and pressing service which can sharpen the pleats up and bring your kilt back to life.
Who should wear a kilt?
Anyone can wear a kilt if they choose to, there are no rules. In fact we encourage our international friends to wear a kilt, it’s a bonnie garment after all, is it not? This goes for clan tartans too, anyone can wear a clan tartan even if they are not affiliated to that particular lineage.
What tartan can I wear?
Q – Which tartan should I wear? A – Traditionally people wear the tartan (if any) which relates to their surname. If there is no appropriate name tartan, look for a district tartan connected to the area where your ancestors lived.
How do you measure for a kilt?
Measure from the navel to just over the top of the kneecap: the kilt should just overlap the top of your kneecap and sit in the crease of the back of your knee. It is important that you also provide us with your height, as this will mean we will be able to tell if the measurements you have taken seem correct.
Can you wear normal brogues with a kilt?
You could choose to wear any type of smart shoe with your kilt outfit but we would always recommend a good pair of either ghillie or day brogues. They are available in many different styles and designs which means you’ll have no problem finding a pair that will suit your outfit needs.
What kind of socks do you wear with a kilt?
Black socks will match almost anything but I would choose to highlight the unique colors of the tartan. White socks might also be a good idea but their color is very bright and flashy. If you’re considering wearing a white dress shirt, I might shy away from plain white socks.
How tight should a kilt be?
The kilt should be comfortable to wear. The top can sit anywhere that’d be best suited for you but no higher than the ribcage and no lower than your hips. If measured correctly, your kilt should fit across your middle snugly with the bottom of the tartan laying at the top of your knee bone.
How do I look good in a kilt?
Your kilt should be wrapped around your body with the pleats to the rear and the aprons overlapping at the front. The fringes should fall to your right-hand side. A kilt is meant to be worn high on the waist (above your navel), causing it to drop down to the middle of the knee.
Can you wear a kilt without a sporran?
Yes. The general public has no problem recognizing kilts. For example, my first few kilts were Utilikilts (which don’t really go with a sporran) and the general public seems to have no problem figuring out that it’s a kilt; and as contemporary kilts they are the most likely to be mistaken as skirts.

If your wedding is a formal one, some mothers of the groom might prefer to wear shades of gold, dark silver, or even black. Other darker colors that might be worn include shades of : Navy. Green.
