What shoes do people wear with kilts?
The shoes that are most commonly worn with kilts are the Ghillie Brogues, which are worn just like a regular shoe, but the laces should be wrapped around the ankles before they are tied in front. Though just about any shoe or boot can be worn with a kilt.
How long does a kilt hire take?
A. For collection in store the hire period is 2-3 days. For example, if you collect in store on the Friday or the Saturday after 2pm the outfit is due back on Monday before 2pm (we are closed on Sundays). If collecting mid week the hire period is 2 days ie collection on Monday the retund day shall be Wednesday.
Do you have to wear ghillie brogues with a kilt?
You could choose to wear any type of smart shoe with your kilt outfit but we would always recommend a good pair of either ghillie or day brogues. They are available in many different styles and designs which means you’ll have no problem finding a pair that will suit your outfit needs.
How do you wear kilt socks and shoes?
Start with your shirt, socks and shoes first. That’s right, it’s much easier to put on your kilt after your shirt and shoes are on. Socks should be worn just below knee level (2-3 finger widths below your kneecap is a good guide) Socks should also be turned over at the top.

What do you wear under a kilt?
It comes down to personal preference, if you feel comfortable “going regimental” then go for it. If not, there is no shame in wearing underwear and it won’t make you less Scottish. One thing to always remember however, if you don’t own a kilt, we would always recommend wearing underwear under a hired kilt.
How much notice do I need to hire a kilt?

Who should wear a kilt?
Anyone can wear a kilt if they choose to, there are no rules. In fact we encourage our international friends to wear a kilt, it’s a bonnie garment after all, is it not? This goes for clan tartans too, anyone can wear a clan tartan even if they are not affiliated to that particular lineage.

Traditionally wedding suits to hire are organised quite far down the list of things to do. They’re often thought of after the flowers, cake, venue, cars, and of course after the dress. Most people leave it around six months prior to the wedding date to get their act together and organise the wedding suits.

The original reason behind the design of Ghillie brogues was purely practical. Shoes without a tongue dried quicker, as did the socks underneath. This meant that they were more practical in the Scottish countryside, where, let’s be honest, getting wet is highly likely!
