What is a Squatchee?
Brenly and Krukow, who both continued to be baseball commentators, used the term “squatcho” or “squatchee” in their broadcasts to refer to the button on the top of a baseball cap. The words caught on, and that little button has been known as a “squatcho” or “squatchee” ever since.
The use of the button is to simply cover the joint point where the panels of the hat meet – often with the same or matching fabric to the cap crown. Some caps do not have a button, but one can argue that a cap actually looks better when the seams are covered.
