How do you measure for a corset busk?

Measure your bust (around the fullest part), your waist (around the narrowest part, slightly above your bellybutton) and your hips (around the fullest part). Measure your length by providing us the measurement between your underbust to waist, and waist to upper hip. Please provide your cup size (for overbust).

What is busk size?

The busks start at 6″ (15 cm) in length to use for the tiniest waist cincher, all the way up to 16″ (40.5 cm) to make an extra long over bust corset.

Do you need a busk in a corset?

The corset busk is optional as you can have a corset pattern with lacing at both the front and back, there are even corset patterns with closed fronts. However the majority of corsets are designed to open at the front with a busk.

How should a corset fit properly?

The top of the corset should lay snugly against the body. It should be tightened such that it neither gaps (stands away from the body) nor cuts in (creating a muffin effect). Particularly at the side of the rib cage (or top of the bust) you want to make sure that it is laying smooth and flush.

How many inches does a corset take off your waist?

You can expect to loose the first 2-3 inches immediately just from putting on a waist training corset (this won’t be permanent when removing your corset for many months). You can expect to loose a further 1-2 inches within a few week/months. After that things slow down.

They were typically made of wood, ivory, or bone slipped into a pocket and tied in place with a lace called the busk point.

The split busk was invented in the 1850’s, and with it came the ‘typical’ straight lacing you see on corsets to today.

There should be no chance that the corset could begin to slip around your body, or up or down on your body. If your corset pinches or rubs in one particular spot its not fitted properly, if you have trouble breathing in it it’s too small, and if it slips, moves around or doesn’t support your bust, its too big.

Do you wear a bra with a corset?

Since overbust corsets offer support for the breasts, you certainly don’t have to wear a bra with it. However, if you wish to wear one to give yourself more support or enhancement, a bra may give you the look you’re seeking.
