When you tie-dye do you have to use soda ash What is it?

At a water temperature of 50F, it is easy to keep a 10% soda ash solution dissolved in water, and this is what we recommend you start out with. To make up a 10% solution mix 4 lb of soda ash powder for every 5 gallons of water, which is approximately a 10% solution by weight.
Can you use baking soda instead of soda ash for tie-dye?
To aid in this process, many dyers use a fixer solution that involves soda ash to make the chemical process faster. If soda ash is unavailable, you can use baking soda to create a fixer solution, but you need to adjust the soda/water ratio and add heat to achieve the same results.
Does vinegar help set tie-dye?
Try soaking your tie dye in equal parts white vinegar and cold water for 30 minutes after you initially rinse out the dye from your garment. The vinegar helps with colorfastness. After the first couple of washes, wash tie dye in cold water to prevent dye from fading.
