Size up for most jeans, pants, shorts, and skirts. In men’s sizes: Tops skew on the smaller side. Expect T-shirts, shirts, and jackets to fit tightly across the chest. Bottoms in sizes S to XL are on the smaller side as well, so it’s best to size up from your normal size.

To make their customers feel better about themselves, Old Navy increases the waist size of their pants. When Abram Sauer tested some common brands of pants a few years back, he found that the Old Navy slacks measured a full 5 inches bigger than the label!
Old Navy sizing for the Rockstar jeans tend to run slightly larger than their denim counterpart, particularly, the waistline. Unlike most clothing that shrinks after several washes, Old Navy Rockstar jeans remain the same or stretch out slightly.
Old Navy skinnies have quite a bit of stretch. If the jeans fit you comfortably, with the right amount of ease–they’re too big. These skinnies are going to stretch out at least one size, and you don’t want them to be saggy-baggy after you’ve worn them for an hour. Go get yourself the next size down.
Should I go up a size in jeans?

Gap Inc.
Founded in 1994, Old Navy is an American fashion company owned by Gap Inc. The brand, named after a bar in Paris, prides itself on being a less expensive version of Gap, offering “fashion essentials” for all the family. It’s become one of the largest brands in the world, with more than 1000 stores.
And here’s the kicker: The Rockstar rollout not only streamlined Old Navy’s fits, but it also merged the Original and Curvy lines—two fits that previously catered to different body types—creating a Universal Fit, or a “super jeans,” in their place.
How do you get skinny jeans to fit?
It should fit snugly around the waistline, whether you choose low- or high-rise jeans. The waist should not “bubble” or gap at the top, nor should it be so tight that it pinches your skin or makes you feel uncomfortable.

Should you size up or down with jeans?
Always take the smaller size as cotton tends to grow when it doesn’t have a stretch fabric mixed into the cotton. It will shrink slightly on washing and stretch again when worn. With Raw Denim the 100% cotton has not been treated at all at the factory.
Is it better to size up or down in pants?
Should you “Size Up” if you’re “In-Between” Sizes? Here’s my advice to Mike: if the size 32 fits well around the waist but the thighs are too tight, sizing up will be more trouble than it’s worth. It’s better to find a pair of pants that is the right shape for you.
Do jeans get looser over time?

Overall, Old Navy had a greater variety of styles and lower prices than Gap did. Both stores had the sales that Gap Inc. is known for, but Old Navy’s sales led to better prices. It’s clear why the store is carrying the brand.
To Return or Exchange Items in a Store
For Gap, Banana Republic, Old Navy, and Athleta items, you can return merchandise purchased online to the appropriate store. For example, if you bought an item on Gap.com, you can return it to a Gap retail store, but not to an Old Navy store.

Sizing and Fit
Personally I find that everything at Old Navy runs large and these are no exception.
Old Navy Petite line is specifically for women under 5’4”. The garments have narrowed shoulders and higher arm openings (yay for properly covered bras!). Sleeves are shorter, hips and waist are more narrow than the classic, fit, pieces have a shorter rise and there’s a lovely 29.5” inseam for truly petite ladies.
