To view your Gradebook, click the “Gradebook” tab in your course. The top section of your Gradebook will show your total grade on all Top Hat course material as well as your attendance record (assuming your professor is using Top Hat to take attendance).

How do I check my top hat attendance?
Open up your Top Hat app and open up the attendance. Enter in the attendance code and click “Continue.” The first time your professor runs secure attendance, you will be asked to verify your attendance, click “Verify.” You will then be asked to allow Top Hat to access your location.
What does orange mean on tophat?
Once assigned, these items will be identifiable by an orange content item icon, and in the preview pane to the right it will indicate when the item was assigned to review and the due date if one has been set.

Top Hat also tracks how many times a student departs from a test. You can adjust these settings to your preference prior to starting the test in your Test Settings.

Can Top Hat track your location?
This notification should only appear once after an attendance session. As a reminder, you can disable this permission setting at any time in the app’s location access settings if you so wish, but again, Top Hat is not tracking your location at all times!
Can I use Top Hat from home?
Top Hat questions do not have the geolocation feature so technically you cannot prevent students from responding to questions remotely. However, you can make it very difficult for students to respond correctly from a remote location. Note: geolocation is not applicable in the remote teaching environment.
How do you submit to Top Hat?
To respond to a Top Hat discussion, simply access the item and click the blue “Reply” button to post your response. You will be provided with the field in which to type your response, and when you’re ready to post it, simply click the “Post” button.
